Membership is open to anyone who is interested in the principles, techniques, and effects of standards and standardization. If you use standards, work with standards, serve on standards development committees, or are an information specialist serving the standards field, you will benefit from NKN membership. Membership is drawn from industry, commerce, academia, service organizations, government, and standards development organizations.

The costs for membership for 1999 are Dfl. 350,-- (excl. BTW).

Employment

The single most important reason to be part of NKN is that employers give preference in hiring and holding those who continue their professional development so that they can help solve problems, and advise on current trends regarding national and international standards as they affect manufacturing, regulatory compliance, marketing, and product liability avoidance.

Awareness

Meetings, study days and conferences address major "hot topics" such as Total Quality Management, globalization, environmental regulations, safety regulations, and the role that standards play in each.

Problem solving

Employers look to their professionals for problem solutions. Often problems are already solved by others or the answers may be outside the excisting knowledge. NKN provides through it's member list (see also member pages) access to colleagues of other companies which could be of help for solving problems. For all that could be profitable for the application of new techniques, and appliances.

Networking

Membership in NKN automatically plugs the professional into a network of specialists. Local, regional, and international contacts may be established. Through these contacts, experiences and knowledge can be shared. Attending the Annual Conference is a profitable means of networking with leaders in the field of standardization.
